Inspiration from the Glossary

From the February 2024 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I love listening to the recording of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that plays continuously online at christianscience.com. I never know which chapter will be playing when I tune in, but usually it’s exactly what I need to hear at that moment.

I must fess up, however, that when I’d been tuning in, I’d found myself thinking, “Please, don’t be reading the Glossary!” Sure, I loved the definitions in that chapter and found them helpful when I was studying a specific topic, but I had not enjoyed simply reading through or listening to the Glossary in its entirety. I am happy to report that this has changed.

Recently, I was in a lot of pain, and it felt like all I could do to get to my phone and start listening to the recording. I was dismayed to find it was playing the Glossary. So I said, “OK, God, I guess I’ll be listening to the Glossary. I don’t have the energy to do anything else.” And it was so inspirational!
