True restoration

From the February 2024 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Bible has a lot to say about restoration. Whatever one seems to have lost—including one’s health—God can restore. “I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord” (Jeremiah 30:17). “I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten” (Joel 2:25).

In the New Testament, Christ Jesus’ healing of the man with the withered hand is described in terms of restoration: “He saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other” (Mark 3:5).

But what is it that’s being restored through divine healing? Only a healthy body?
