My husband and I were nearing our retirement years, and I knew we needed a change so that we could retire. We both worked heavy-labor, low-paying self-employed jobs that offered no benefits, and we also had no savings. We were living paycheck to paycheck.
For many years, I had the desire to buy houses, fix them up, and either rent them out or sell them. This was not just a desire but also a logical investment, since my husband and I had learned how to remodel houses. But we didn’t have enough income or other viable options to buy another house. So, I turned to God in prayer and asked Him what we should do.
I love the twenty-third Psalm in the Bible, and how David wrote there that God prepared a table for him in the midst of his enemies. Our enemy was the view that we lacked opportunity and that time was running out for us. However, I knew that God also prepared us a table.
