No polarization in divine Mind

From the May 2025 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Originally published in Spanish

In many parts of the world, relations among countries, societies, and families seem to be characterized by division. Polarizing theories and opinions attempt to influence our perceptions and our relations to others on the assumption that there are two sides—and that we must choose one. These materialistic views are not conducive to social peace, community restoration, or progress. In reality we all want to live in peace and security, because we all desire the common good.

How can we find more effective solutions to world problems, solutions that include everyone? How can we defend ourselves against captivating, divisive influences? God is unchanging divine Love, the one infinite Mind which is the source of real wisdom, of inspired solutions that bless everyone. Prayer helps us discover a common path of spiritual progress—this path that opens up as we discover more about the power of God and how God governs us.

In the allness of God, there are no factions, no polarization. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, explains in one of her writings: “Let us remember that God—good—is omnipotent; therefore evil is impotent. There is but one side to good,—it has no evil side; there is but one side to reality, and that is the good side” (Christian Healing, p. 10). All of us, as God’s children, can be unfailingly on the side of God, good.
