Recently, I’d been feeling discouraged about my spiritual growth because of the various challenges I was facing in my life. But revisiting an email exchange I’d had with a Christian Science practitioner during a past challenge helped me recall the healing of it a few years ago.
It had been my busiest performing season as a dancer, and I started having pain in my inner thigh. It began occurring right before I was supposed to attend my Christian Science association meeting, and it had taken a lot for my bosses to let me leave during our dance season. Being allowed to go involved multiple conversations both with them and with my colleagues about Christian Science and the various healings I’d had in my life.
At one point I had to leave a dance class early because I was in pain, and I contacted a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful support. We worked together over the next few days, and though I was struggling to walk, I was still able to perform a technically demanding featured role. After the performance I emailed the practitioner and reported having “more fun than I’ve ever had before.” I even said that it had gone so well I hadn’t found myself wishing it had gone better, despite dealing with a physical issue. I had a full healing of the pain, didn’t miss any shows, and was able to attend my association.
