The healing deep dive

From the February 2022 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A researcher at the Dolphin Research Center in Florida said that when a storm blows in, they open the underwater gate from the bay to the ocean for the dolphins to swim out into the deep water so they won’t get dashed against the rocks by the waves. Below the surging waves, it can actually be quite calm. The dolphins are safe, and they return to the bay after the storm.

Similarly, when a “storm” blows into our lives, so to speak, I love the thought of going deep into the study and practice of Christian Science. When thought is in rapport with God—infinite Mind and limitless Life—one is below the surface of the agitated condition and cannot be battered.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, wrote: “We cannot fathom the nature and quality of God’s creation by diving into the shallows of mortal belief. We must reverse our feeble flutterings—our efforts to find life and truth in matter—and rise above the testimony of the material senses, above the mortal to the immortal idea of God. These clearer, higher views inspire the Godlike man to reach the absolute centre and circumference of his being” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 262).
