Facial growth dissolves

From the February 2022 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For several years I had a very visible and ugly growth near one of my eyes. At first it was hardly noticeable and I didn’t take much time to pray about it. But when the growth gradually grew larger and started to bother me, I finally became more diligent in my prayers. I tried not to look at the physical evidence and would often remind myself “to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” (II Corinthians 5:8).

On occasion I asked for metaphysical treatment from different Christian Science practitioners. I was also greatly encouraged by the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals by people who were healed of similar physical conditions, especially a testimony called “Stay with it!” in the Journal (Christian Harder, August 2007). They made me feel confident that I could be healed also.

Some well-meaning family members and friends expressed their concerns about the growth and even offered to take me to a physician. That was very kind, but not what I was seeking. Although I did sometimes think about going to a medical practitioner to remove the growth, because I felt embarrassed by my appearance, what I really wanted was to pursue spiritual healing.
