Christian Science Officiating Ministers While the Christian Science church maintains no chaplains in the Forces of His Britannic Majesty, for nearly two years men who are called Christian Science Officiating Ministers (the designation acceptable to the Chaplain-General's Department, since they are not clergymen) have been actively serving Christian Scientists and others who desire their services in the several Army and Air Force Commands in Great Britain, and an Officiating Minister has now been assigned to the Middle East Forces. The service rendered is similar to that of Christian Science Chaplains and Welfare Workers in the armed forces of the United States.

FROM THE DIRECTORS [As published in the Christian Science Sentinel , October 4, 1941] United States Defense Savings Bonds Inquiries which have been received indicate that some explanation should be given with regard to the opportunity presented by the United States Treasury for investment in government bonds. As indicated in the statement "From the Directors" which appeared in the Sentinel of August 23, 1941, on this subject, Christian Science churches and societies do not engage in promoting financial programs.
