According to a new joint ruling of the United States and Canadian censorship offices, newspapers, newspaper clippings, or any other printed matter cannot be sent from the United States and Canada to a neutral European country after September 1, 1942, unless they are sent directly from the firm which publishes them. This restrictive measure is deemed necessary to national defense, since it is believed that such clippings could be used for the transmission of code messages from the United States or Canada to spy centers in neutral European countries.
The Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society today announced the election, with the concurrence of The Christian Science Board of Directors, of George Channing, C. S.

FROM THE DIRECTORS An Important Pamphlet The attention of members of The Mother Church and its branches is called to a notice from The Christian Science Publishing Society elsewhere in this issue, announcing a new pamphlet entitled ''Permanency of The Mother Church and Its Manual. " The valuable information included in this pamphlet should be familiar to every Christian Scientist.

Christian Science Officiating Ministers and Christian Science Authorized Workers Men serving with the armed forces of the allied nations in the United Kingdom are privileged to call upon Christian Science Officiating Ministers there, the same as those serving in the Forces of His Britannic Majesty. Although Christian Science chaplains are not provided in Great Britain, these Officiating Ministers (a designation approved by the Chaplain General's Department) for nearly two years have been serving Christian Scientists and others who desire their aid, in the several Army and Air Force Commands in Great Britain.

The closing date for the receipt of applications for membership in The Mother Church is now approximately one month in advance of the date of the admission instead of two weeks as heretofore. Applications are acted upon by The Christian Science Board of Directors, twice each year, as provided for by the Manual of The Mother Church, Article XIII, Section 2.
