The Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society today announced the election, with the concurrence of The Christian Science Board of Directors, of George Channing, C. S. B., of San Francisco, California, as a Trustee to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Judge Herbert L. Standeven. The election was held in accordance with Article XXV, Section 3, of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy.
Mr. Channing was educated in the public schools of Providence. Rhode Island, his native state, and at Brown University, from which he graduated with a degree of A. B. Subsequently he studied law for a year at Boston University and for another year at Yale. For ten years he was engaged in newspaper work, acting at one time as City Editor of the Seattle (Washington) Star.
Mr. Channing served in France during the World War I as a Corporal, and near the end of his service graduated from a French Artillery School as First Lieutenant, Reserve, C.A. C, U.S.A. He joined The Mother Church in 1923, already having joined Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, San Francisco, which he served as First Reader and President. He was Advertising Representative of The Christian Science Monitor for San Francisco.
