Paul's regenerative awakening to spiritual understanding is thoroughly evidenced in his words, found in II Corinthians, "We know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." Through the spiritual unfoldment which Christian Science reveals, the true interpretation of these words comes to light. Christian Science teaches us how to lift our reasoning from a material basis to the spiritual foundation.
Mortal opinions, false conclusions, and illusive beliefs—these erroneous materials are included in what is called our human existence or mortal experience, filled with fear, disaster, sin, sickness, and sorrow. In other words, mortals dwell in their "earthly house," or belief of existence outside of and apart from the realm of Spirit, which has no part whatever with the real man of God's creating. Their only salvation and help are found in turning to the divine Mind, the Giver of all good.
The false belief in a life separate from God must be cast out. Belief in matter as being substantial or sentient must be laid aside for the true concept of Life as Spirit. Wrong deeds must be atoned or rectified by good, and hateful thoughts replaced by loving thoughts. As this is done, the true man of God's creating appears, lovable and loving, healthy, happy, and prosperous.
