EXTRA BIBLE LESSON

The schedule of Lesson-Sermons for the Christian Science Quarterly for the current year requires an extra Lesson in the October-December issue because there are fifty-three Sundays in the year rather than the usual fifty-two. For this extra Lesson, which is the one for December 24, the subject "Christ Jesus" has been approved by the Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society and concurred in by The Christian Science Board of Directors.

[As published in the Christian Science Sentinel, April 22, 1944] ITEM OF INTEREST Board of Lectureship More than twenty-five years ago a plan was established whereby members of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship who had served continuously for six or more years could, in the order of their seniority and if they so desired, request a period of a year for study and spiritual refreshment during which time they would engage in the practice of Christian Science healing. The benefits of this arrangement having been made apparent both as to the individual lecturers and the important work in which they were engaged, it was decided a number of years ago to make a more definite arrangement in this direction, and the plan was adopted whereby each member of the Board of Lectureship would retire for a period of two years for study, refreshment, and the practice of Christian Science after serving continuously for four years on that Board.

Christian Science Quarterly In keeping with the requirements of the War Production Board that periodicals conserve paper, the blank pages in the English editions of the Christian Science Quarterly have been eliminated and the notices rearranged in such a way as to effect considerable saving. Beginning with the April-May-June, 1944, issue, the Explanatory Note and the table of contents will appear on the inside front cover, while the Church and Reading Room notice and the Note for Students of the Lessons will be found on the inside back cover.

LIST OF RETIRING LECTURERS

In accordance with this procedure the following, having served faithfully for a number of years, will retire from the Board of Lectureship for the purpose stated above, beginning July 1, 1944: Mr.

HOSPITALITY IN THE HOMES OF CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS FOR SERVICEMEN AND SERVICEWOMEN Christian Scientists everywhere again are reminded of the happy privilege which is theirs to invite into their homes the young men and women who for the time being have left their own homes in order to serve their country and assist in ensuring freedom for all mankind. This activity can best be promoted by the formation of committees by individual Christian Scientists.
