Branches of The Mother Church in the smaller communities, which are contemplating the erection of a church when the necessary means become available, may wish to begin soon to gather information in that connection.
The requirements for becoming a beneficiary of the trust fund established under the will of Mrs. Selina C. Cornish have been clarified somewhat since an "Item of Interest" concerning it was published in the Christian Science Sentinel of September 28, 1940. This fund was set up for the purpose of contributing to the building of Christian Science church edifices in towns having a population of not more than twenty thousand inhabitants, any gift not to exceed $10,000.
The Selina C. Cornish Fund may also, under certain circumstances, contribute to the cost of making additions to existing church edifices in such towns, the cost of acquiring a building to be used as a church edifice, the cost of remodeling of existing buildings to be used as church edifices, or, under very restricted circumstances, to the payment or reduction of indebtedness incurred in connection with such buildings. The purchase value of the building site, labor or materials, and furnishings or equipment may be included in the estimated cost of the edifice to be considered, if the application for the contribution is made to the Trustees of the Fund before, and not after, the purchase of the property or the completion of the transaction involved.
