ETERNAL VERITY

From the November 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Up, up on strong wing, O bird,
Into the light.
No fetters bind you to the earth,
Nor stop your flight.

Up, up into the sun and wind, O bird,
While your heart sings.
If you were not meant for skyward ways,
Would you have wings?

Into the light, on strong wings of Truth
Do I arise.
No darkness can imprison me,
Nor blind my eyes,

No fear of death beset me, for I dwell
In Life divine.
If I were not immortal now,
Could Life be mine?

I live! I know! and neither mystery nor doubt
My thought can dim.
This is my life's eternal verity:
I live in Him.
