Weekday Religious Education Weekday classes in religious education conducted on released school time for public school pupils are being held in all but a few states of the United States, as well as in Canada, England, and Wales. Some states have laws specifically permitting the releasing of pupils from public school in order that they may receive religious instruction in churches or church schools of their choice, while in other states the ruling of the state attorney general, a court decision, or an opinion from the state board of education provides the authority under which the plan for religious instruction is carried on.
In preparing for a Christian Science lecture, thoughtful consideration should be given to providing adequate facilities to accommodate all who are likely to attend. While it is entirely proper to hold lectures in church edifices, where there are several churches in a community it has also been found helpful for the churches to consider giving a few lectures in the course of a lecture year in a suitable hall which is prominently located and of sufficient seating capacity to take care of all comers.
Many branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, and Christian Science Societies are now giving special attention to the betterment of their Sunday schools. The Christian Science Board of Directors is desirous of affording all possible aid to this important activity, and to this end a division of the Executive Office of the Directors has been established for the purpose of receiving and sharing information relative to Sunday school activities.
