The Normal Class of 2012

Every three years, the Board of Education, an auxiliary to the Massachusetts Metaphysical College, holds a Normal class to train and authorize dedicated practitioners of Christian Science healing to take on the additional responsibility of teaching this healing method to others. We’re delighted to announce that a new group of teachers has successfully completed the 2012 Normal class, which was held in early December.

Dear Fellow Members and Friends, After 11 years of dedicated and immensely productive service as a member of the Christian Science Board of Directors, Mary (Trinka) Trammell, CSB, has asked to resign from the Board. Trinka’s fellow workers at The Mother Church in Boston, as well as church members worldwide who have met her on her tireless travels and through her many articles in the Christian Science periodicals, will join us in a chorus of gratitude for all she has contributed to the forward movement of this Church.

Admission of new members

Dear Fellow Members and Friends, Once again, I have the happy privilege of sharing the news of today’s [November 2] admission of new members. Admission takes place at a regular business meeting of the Christian Science Board of Directors and is required in the Church Manual.

A message from the Board of Lectureship

The lecturers listed and pictured on the following pages give talks on Christian Science throughout the world. They reside in 16 different countries and include those who speak the following languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Greek, Hindi, Igbo, and Lingala.

A coming together

Odyssey Networks, based in New York City, is America’s largest interfaith coalition dedicated to producing material that enriches spiritual life and promotes understanding among people of diverse beliefs and perspectives. Founded in 1987, its 119 members are made up of faith groups, individuals, and organizations such as the National Council of Churches.

The call of the Christ

Dear Members and Friends, You’ve been hearing   quite a bit from The Mother Church about “the spirit of Christ calling us together. ”* Check out Margaret Rogers’s January Journal editorial if you missed it.

Soloist position at The Mother Church

After seven years as Soloist of The Mother Church, Julia Wade will complete her service at the end of April 2012. We are deeply grateful to Julia for her dedication and devotion of thought to The Mother Church services, both English and Spanish, as well as for her performances and workshops during Annual Meeting weekends.
