Admission of new members

Dear Members and Friends, Once again, I have the happy privilege of writing you to share news of today’s [May 31] admission of new members. Admission takes place at a regular business meeting of the Christian Science Board of Directors and is required in the  Church Manual.

The annual election of officers of The Mother Church by the Christian Science Board of Directors, called for in the Church Manual, will take place this year on Monday, June 3, prior to the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church. We want to let you know in advance of our intent to elect new Readers, because such a significant change requires the support of a number of employees to complete details before these Readers begin their terms.

Effective and sustainable health care

Scott Preller, President of The Christian Science Board of Education, recently had a conversation with the Board of Directors on the subject of health care. The question put to the Directors was: “How is the Church responding to the Affordable Care Act—the law passed in the United States requiring all citizens to obtain health insurance?” Margaret Rogers: The Christian Science Committee on Publication Office has been working diligently in Washington, DC—in particular with legislators—to see how Christian Scientists can be accommodated.

Annual Meeting 2013

Dear Family of Gardeners, I can recall, when growing up, how the family would get the garden started each spring. Any of you who have held seeds in your hand, placed them in the ground, watched as they sprouted over the days, have an appreciation for how something so small can blossom into something so significant.

The Normal Class of 2012

Every three years, the Board of Education, an auxiliary to the Massachusetts Metaphysical College, holds a Normal class to train and authorize dedicated practitioners of Christian Science healing to take on the additional responsibility of teaching this healing method to others. We’re delighted to announce that a new group of teachers has successfully completed the 2012 Normal class, which was held in early December.

Dear Fellow Members and Friends, After 11 years of dedicated and immensely productive service as a member of the Christian Science Board of Directors, Mary (Trinka) Trammell, CSB, has asked to resign from the Board. Trinka’s fellow workers at The Mother Church in Boston, as well as church members worldwide who have met her on her tireless travels and through her many articles in the Christian Science periodicals, will join us in a chorus of gratitude for all she has contributed to the forward movement of this Church.
