In the  Manual of The Mother Church,  Mary Baker Eddy provides for the continuity of her teaching through the establishment of the Board of Education. Article XXIX, Section 2, states: “Loyal Christian Scientists’ pupils who so desire may apply to the Board of Education for instruction; and if they have practised Christian Science healing successfully three years and will furnish evidence of their eligibility therefor, they are eligible to enter the Normal class.

Dear Members and Friends of The Mother Church,  Mary Baker Eddy had a grand vision for youth in her movement. In her Church Manual , she invited those twelve and older into active church membership ( Article IV, Section 3 ); she asked every branch church to nurture youth in their communities through Sunday Schools ( Article XX ); and she encouraged the presence of Christian Science on college and university campuses through Christian Science organizations ( Article XXIII, Section 8 ).

It seems like only yesterday that the idea of a digital Journal , Sentinel, and Herald  subscription was introduced in this column. The article “Next Tuesday, a Year from Now” ( Journal, March 2011) suggested a day when readers would be seamlessly supported by the Christian Science periodicals in their daily study of Christian Science in both print and digital formats.

Throughout the history of The Mother Church, in times of national and international emergencies, the Church has reached out to those in need. The Church’s “first responders” are a dedicated team of TMC employees in several departments and include the Christian Science Board of Directors.

We wanted to let you know that our dear friend and colleague Warren Bolon passed on July 28. All those who had the privilege of knowing Warren will remember his kindness, his calm and thoughtful presence, his astute metaphysical insight—and a host of other unique and wonderful qualities.
