Announcement of New Readers THE ANNUAL ELECTION of officers of The Mother Church by the Christian Science Board of Directors, called for in the Church Manual, will take place this year on Monday, June 7, prior to the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church. We want to let you know in advance of our intent to elect new Readers, because such a significant change involves many practical transition issues and requires the services and support of a number of employees to complete details before the Readers begin Annual Meeting week.
IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROVISIONS established by Mary Baker Eddy in the Church Manual (Article XXX, Section 6), since 1907 a Normal class has been taught every three years, in order to provide a continuing supply of authorized teachers of Christian Science to the world. The students who have comprised these classes have successfully demonstrated their ability to heal for at least three years prior to taking the class, and have dedicated their lives to the service of their Church and humanity through the sacred work of healing and teaching Christian Science.

Article XXIX, Section 2, states: "Loyal Christian Scientists' pupils who so desire may apply to the Board of Education for instruction; and if they have practised Christian Science healing successfully three years and will furnish evidence of their eligibility therefor, they are eligible to enter the Normal class.
