A request from the Board of Trustees

International hymns for new Hymnal Supplement

From the December 2010 issue of The Christian Science Journal

(Christian Science Hymnal Supplement, No. 449). Impossible!!! There are so many reasons to sing God’s praise that the song in our hearts never ends. And the vast array of available music gives us endless possibilities to have a new song every day . . . maybe every moment.

The success of the 2008 Hymnal Supplement has generated a flood of interest in the possibilities of new and varied music for our church services. As a result, we are collecting submissions for another Supplement that we hope will be more international in nature. While we have already received hundreds of hymns, they have been in English and Anglo in character. But our church is global, so our music should reflect the diverse languages and cultures of all the members. Please join us in celebrating the wide world of music and help us discover hymns that universally bless.

Your favorite hymns! We are encouraging everyone to submit hymns that have touched their hearts with a healing message and a beautiful melody. There are no restrictions on music or lyrics, although lyrics should be consistent with Christian Science. We hope submissions will range from classical traditions, to appropriate selections from other denominational hymnals, to original music and lyrics, to a wide assortment of contemporary genres. But most important, we want to include music from the many cultures and languages that represent our worldwide membership. This is our greatest need—international submissions. Your help in locating non-English hymns is most appreciated and will prove most beneficial. Please share this request with your friends, along with the submission information that is listed below. We thank you in advance for your support and prayers.
