From the Christian Science Board of Directors

From the February 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Christian Science Board of Directors has appointed Russ Gerber, CSB, as Manager of Committees on Publication, effective November 22, 2010, succeeding Phil Davis, CSB, who tendered his resignation. After six years of front-line work as Manager of Committees on Publication, Phil will be returning to the Chicago area to continue his healing practice and teaching.

In addition to teaching and healing, Phil’s service to the Christian Science movement found deep roots in the Committee work—first in Illinois, then at the federal level in Washington, DC, and most recently world-wide. He has consistently brought to his work an unselfish commitment of time, energy, prayer, and a willingness to engage face to face with legislators and media contacts. He has worked very closely with State Committees in the United States and with their counterparts in other parts of the world. We are grateful for his devotion to protecting the practice of Christian Science healing and know his return to Illinois will bless many.

Russ has also served the Christian Science movement in various capacities. He became a Journal-listed practitioner in 1988 and a teacher of Christian Science in 1991 and continues to teach and hold annual Association meetings in San Luis Obispo, California. Russ first came to work at The Mother Church in 1985 as Program Manager, Radio & TV Broadcasts for The Christian Science Monitor. From 1992 to 2005 Russ served as Associate Editor, Journal, Sentinel, Herald; Associate Editor of Sentinel Radio; and Managing Editor, Broadcasting & Heralds. In July 2007, Russ joined the Committee on Publication Office serving as Manager of the Media Division. He is well equipped to take on the broader role of Manager, Committees on Publication. We know that he will be heartily supported by his team in Boston, by Committees around the globe, and by everyone in a position to support this essential work of our Church.
