We are pleased to share the good news that, in addition to serving on the Christian Science Board of Directors, Scott Preller, CSB, has once again been appointed as a Trustee of The Christian Science Publishing Society. You may recall that in 2011 Scott stepped away from his work on the Board of Trustees to serve as President of the Board of Education.
It’s a precious thing to hear someone reflecting on insights and lessons gained over a lifetime. When these lessons touch on subjects such as God, prayer, healing, and church, they naturally bless the wider family and community.
With the deepest respect and warmest affection, the Christian Science Board of Directors has accepted a letter of intent from Nathan Talbot, CSB, to conclude his duties on the Board, and as Clerk of The Mother Church, on November 3, 2013.
So much of what a Christian Science Committee on Publication gets involved in has to do with influence. We all know the term comes with baggage that most people would like to avoid.
Join this global gathering of Mother Church members and friends from 58 countries, in one place online, to share reports of progress and look ahead to new opportunities for growth. Thousands of people watched this year’s 2013 Annual Meeting (20 percent more than in 2012), and we anticipate even more joining us in 2014! Plan ahead to watch with other church members and friends (at your Christian Science Reading Room, church, or home) as we unite for this once-a-year meeting of Christian Scientists from around the world.
In accordance with Article XXXI, Section 1, of the Church Manual , the Christian Science Board of Directors has elected the following members to serve as lecturers from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014. Adams, John Q.
In a hospital in South Africa … in a movie theater in Texas … on a college green in Florida … on a mountain in Indonesia … in a church auditorium in London … people are finding out for the first time about Mary Baker Eddy and the Science of Christianity through Christian Science lectures. Just as Jesus was “moved with compassion” to go where people needed him most, Christian Scientists are being moved to offer lectures in places and formats that meet people’s needs and result in healing.
Dear Members and Friends, Once again, I have the happy privilege of writing you to share news of today’s [May 31] admission of new members. Admission takes place at a regular business meeting of the Christian Science Board of Directors and is required in the Church Manual.
The annual election of officers of The Mother Church by the Christian Science Board of Directors, called for in the Church Manual, will take place this year on Monday, June 3, prior to the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church. We want to let you know in advance of our intent to elect new Readers, because such a significant change requires the support of a number of employees to complete details before these Readers begin their terms.
Scott Preller, President of The Christian Science Board of Education, recently had a conversation with the Board of Directors on the subject of health care. The question put to the Directors was: “How is the Church responding to the Affordable Care Act—the law passed in the United States requiring all citizens to obtain health insurance?” Margaret Rogers: The Christian Science Committee on Publication Office has been working diligently in Washington, DC—in particular with legislators—to see how Christian Scientists can be accommodated.
