The Church of Christ, Scientist, demonstrates the universal laws of Life, Truth, and Love, which triumph over all that opposes the Christ, God's infinite idea. This Church expresses the element which is needed to uplift, regenerate, and heal the wounds of the world.
Everyone wants to be appreciated—to be recognized and valued for what he is and for what he does. But at times appreciation appears to be lacking.
The needs of the weary, hungry, unhappy, and sick are not different today from those of the multitudes following our Master, Christ Jesus, when he taught, healed, and fed them many years ago on the hills of Judea and by the Galilean Sea. And this same pure Christianity of the healing Christ, Truth, has been restored and made available to all through Christian Science.
Burdened in one way or another, humanity longs to rest in the assurance of a sustaining power beyond the limits of its own inadequate efforts. Many are willing to turn to God but are uncertain about the correct mental path to His presence.
When one versed in the natural sciences examines Christian Science, he finds a radical distinction. In the physical sciences, rational systems are constructed on observations made with the bodily senses; whereas Christian Science is founded on spiritual sense.
One hears much these days about the necessity for proper rest, diet, and exercise. Although keeping a suitable balance in these things is sensible, Christian Scientists find that to devote too much interest to a material regimen does not remedy physical problems or offer any lasting satisfaction.
Christian Science teaches that for effectual demonstration of its comforting truths, wisdom must join hands with love. Without wisdom, love temporarily finds no response.
Daily the active Christian Scientist affirms statements of truth to replace the arguments of error. The truth is that God is supreme, infinite, omnipotent, ever present, and that evil is powerless, lawless, unreal, and, when considered from the standpoint of Spirit's allness, nonexistent, a mere illusion of the senses.
One test of the progress we have made in our understanding of God's omnipresence through the study of Christian Science comes at the moment when our children are ready to leave the shelter of the family home, either literally or in the sense that it is time for them to make their own decisions. Throughout the years when our young people have been in our care, we have done our best to prepare and equip them for this adventure.
