In the autumn of 1960 a great gathering of world leaders took place. The scene was the General Assembly of the United Nations; the occasion, its opening meetings and the welcoming of fifteen new nations into its membership, making a total of ninety-eight countries of the world uniting in the hope of helping to bring peace and prosperity to mankind.
As Christian Scientists we rejoice at instantaneous or speedy demonstrations of God's power over sickness or discord. But we are sometimes faced with difficulties that seem slow to yield to our declarations of the truth of man's immutable being as God's perfect expression, and a great feeling of discouragement may come over us.

The Apostle John was banished to the bleak island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea because of his ardent fidelity to the teachings and practice of Christ Jesus. But the authorities could not banish or retard John's inspiration and spiritual thinking.
Man and the universe are perfect because they are created by God who is perfect. However, we are not yet fully aware of this fact and must learn to understand perfection.
The attitude of Christian Scientists towards evil is frequently misunderstood by those unacquainted with the teachings of Christian Science. This attitude is, however, in harmony with that of Christ Jesus.

Christian Science teaches that the spiritual man and universe of God's creating are unchangeably harmonious and complete. While the student of this Science wholeheartedly subscribes to this truth, he soon discovers that a mere intellectual knowledge of the subject, a familiarity with the letter without corresponding spiritual progress, is insufficient to equip him for the demonstration of Science.
In traditional fairy stories, people were often given three wishes. But when they made a wish, they never seemed to be wise enough to know what to wish for, and so they were usually no better off when their wishes had been granted.
God , divine Love, alone creates and governs the universe. As Love is the sole creator, everything comprising creation must be of the nature and substance of Love—good, perfect, and complete.
