In the narrative of Jehoshaphat's reign over the kingdom of Judah, as recorded in II Chronicles, we are told that when Jehoshaphat was informed that a large army had invaded Judah to war against his people, he was afraid. But his thought turned to God.

A Friend once said, "If you keep your attitude toward the world coincident with your altitude of thought, you will have obtained that blessed state called the kingdom of heaven. " The two words "attitude" and "altitude" are most challenging.

Each branch Church of Christ, Scientist, which is supported by members who are active students of Christian Science demonstrating Truth and Love, makes an important contribution to the Cause of Christian Science. Whether the progressive branch church is located in a small community or in a larger center of population, its services and other activities are significant and far-reaching.

The transforming power of Christian Science is best apparent in lives which have come to express happiness and health through its ministrations. The inevitable laws of God, of the one Mind, which is Love, are ever present and immutably good.

Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds. " Mary Baker Eddy considered these words of such importance that she put them on page 1 of the opening chapter of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Christian Scientists are learning to acknowledge God in all their ways and to be grateful, even in troublous experiences, that God is present to dissolve the darkness of mortal belief with the light of spiritual being. The prophet Malachi gave this message from God ( 3: 10 ): "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

A Christian Science lecture is an important event in any neighborhood. It might be likened somewhat to the teaching and preaching of Christ Jesus and his apostles when multitudes were drawn to hear the message of Christ and were healed and refreshed.

Jesus was well acquainted with the letter of the Jewish law and had studied it thoroughly from boyhood. The Bible record tells us that at the age of twelve years he was found "in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions" ( Luke 2:46 ).

One of the dictionary definitions of the word "manual" is "handbook. " Students of Christian Science have in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy a handbook which is indispensable to their proper growth.

Christ Jesus' victory over death on the cross proved for all time the total unrelatedness of Life to destructible matter. His entire three years' mission was devoted to making plain that man is spiritual and therefore immune to matter's so-called laws.
