"I AM SOMEONE WORTH KNOWING"

From the February 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To be needed! Is that not a yearning common to all mankind? That longing should not go unsatisfied, for it is a righteous desire. Its answer is found in the assurance that each of us has a worthwhile place to fill in the present order of things. We find this place when we learn that man, God's image, His idea, exists to express Him.

"Love giveth to the least spiritual idea might, immortality, and goodness, which shine through all as the blossom shines through the bud." These words by Mary Baker Eddy, found on page 518 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" under the marginal heading "Assistance in brotherhood," point to the value inherent in every individual idea. Each of God's ideas reflects His nature and love, and each fills a necessary place in the divine creation.

The useful qualities one expresses constitute his true worth, and every individual can claim and utilize these qualities without timidity or self-consciousness. In this way one can prove that the realization of his divine heritage as a child of God serves as a practicable, demonstrable force in his daily experience, making him a worthwhile relative, friend, and citizen.
