MAN'S PLACE IS PREPARED

From the February 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mortals spend much time and effort in seeking their right place. The fearful and unenlightened thought gropes about in the darkness of insecurity and indecision, anxiously desiring to do the right thing and to take the right steps. If we had no hope or reliance other than blind faith and unpredictable chance, then all the efforts of mankind would amount to little in the right direction. Chance, however, plays no part in the real man's destiny, for he is governed wholly by God, divine Mind.

Man's real existence is not material, and his identity is not physical. All there is to material existence is the erroneous thought about it. We can never find our rightful place, our heritage as the beloved sons of God, by seeking for it in matter. Place is in Mind, is purely spiritual, and man, God's idea, is already in it.

Our God-ordained and God-sustained place is forever secure. Jesus said (John 14:2): "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." Our place in the realm of Love, so evidently prepared for us, awaits but our recognition and acceptance. We actually always occupy this place. Hence there should be no sense of inadequacy or lack of ability, for our Father constantly bestows the intelligence and awareness we need in order to demonstrate His divine purpose.
