Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

OUR CONTRIBUTION TO PEACE

One of the greatest problems facing the world today is that of finding a satisfactory solution to the wars and rumors of war that so constantly beset it. Are you and I feeling that as individuals there is little we can do to help solve so complex a problem? Such a temptation—for so it is—might delude us into a state of apathy and helplessness.

THE SHEPHERDING PRESENCE OF GOOD

Men's faith in a power higher than material sense, a good power guiding and directing human affairs, has brought them comfort and courage, and they have often likened this power to a good shepherd. But, although yearning for this guiding influence, many have not known where to look for it or how to lay hold upon it.

TODAY'S OPPORTUNITY

Certainly at no time in the world's history has a greater opportunity been presented for spiritual thinkers to bless and benefit their fellow men, for through Christian Science the redeeming and saving Christ has been revealed. To us has been revealed the demonstrable understanding of God's omnipotence and the possibility of saving mankind from destruction through the power of divine Love.

RIGHT CLASSIFICATION

Mankind is prone to classify individuals and to place them in certain categories. Men often depend on first impressions, form permanent opinions of others, sometimes negative, and adhere to their original classifications.

GIVING TESTIMONIES

The Church of Christ, Scientist, is a healing Church. The revelation of Christian Science, which has come to us through our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has again made practical the healing method so successfully practiced by Christ Jesus, by his disciples, and in a degree by the prophets who preceded our great Master.

"GOD-ENDOWED FOR DISCIPLESHIP"

" To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it" ( Rev. 2:17 ).

AN UNDEFILED HERITAGE

David sang ( Ps. 16:6 ), "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

SCIENTIFIC REDEMPTION

Mary Baker Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings" ( pp. 367, 368 ): "The senses would say that whatever saves from sin, must know sin.

Divinity embracing humanity

The author points out that we can compassionately meet human needs by starting with the divine, relinquishing personal sense, and embracing “the new man, God's likeness.”

THE PURPOSE OF OUR PERIODICALS

" Dear readers, our Journal is designed to bring health and happiness to all households wherein it is permitted to enter, and to confer increased power to be good and to do good. " Mary Baker Eddy thus clearly and simply defines the purpose of The Christian Science Journal on page 262 of "Miscellaneous Writings.
