PEACE THROUGH CHRIST

Deep within the heart of men is a great yearning for peace. Yet generations ago Christ Jesus said ( John 14:27 ), "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.

DISPOSING OF FEAR

In a world where fear seems inescapable it is a wondrous event when one finds that divine Love has a specific and blessed "Peace, be still" for every troubled heart. The glorious fact that Love casts out fear and frees men from its torment is proclaimed in the Scriptures, is explained thoroughly and understandably by Christian Science, and is being proved day in and day out in the lives of those who seek to understand and practice the fundamentals upon which this action rests.

"CHRISTIAN SCIENCE IS SIMPLE"

In answer to the question, "If Christian Science is the same as Jesus taught, why is it not more simple, so that all can readily understand it?" Mary Baker Eddy says (Miscellaneous Writings, pp. 53, 54 ): "The teachings of Jesus were simple; and yet he found it difficult to make the rulers understand, because of their great lack of spirituality.

"THE GREAT POINT OF DEPARTURE"

When one ascends the gangplank of an ocean liner prior to his departure for a foreign land, he is prepared to enter upon a new adventure. Although the surroundings may seem strange at first and rough seas may be encountered, the journey must be undertaken in order to reach the destination.

"BEYOND THE VEIL OF MATTER"

In the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes ( pp. 40, 41 ), "The nature of Christianity is peaceful and blessed, but in order to enter into the kingdom, the anchor of hope must be cast beyond the veil of matter into the Shekinah into which Jesus has passed before us; and this advance beyond matter must come through the joys and triumphs of the righteous as well as through their sorrows and afflictions.

RESPONDING TO CHRISTIAN SCIENCE TREATMENT

The question may sometimes arise, What is the patient's duty or responsibility when turning to Christian Science for help? Has he done his part if he turns to an experienced Christian Scientist for treatment and studies the Scriptures and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy? The patient's attitude of thought has an important bearing on the outcome. There are times when one's mere willingness to ask for help in Christian Science, or to read authorized Christian Science literature, denotes enough expectancy of good to help bring about a healing.

"THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF"

The question of the lawyer who came to Jesus ( Luke 10:29 ), "Who is my neighbour?" is fundamental. This question cannot be answered from the basis of physical sense.
