ESTABLISHING THE DIVINE ORDER

In the fourth chapter of his Gospel, Matthew relates the wilderness experience of Christ Jesus, in which he was tempted of the devil three times. It is both interesting and instructive to observe that Jesus quickly established in consciousness the divine order, thereby ruling the evil suggestion out of order.

THE TRIUMPHANT CHRIST

Christian Science teaches absolute and exclusive reliance on God. When one begins the study of Christian Science and feels its beneficial effects, he may wonder why in the past he has left God out of consideration so much of the time.

"SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES"

Those who sought out Jesus in Jerusalem because he had dared to heal on the Sabbath day may well have been astounded at the calm demeanor of the man they had come to persecute and kill. Facing them fearlessly, Jesus proclaimed his oneness, or unity, with the Father and added these significant words ( John 5:39 ): "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

THE INDESTRUCTIBILITY OF MAN

The evidence of the indestructibility of man presented in the life of the Master has a special significance for the age in which we live. "Why was it," one may ask, "that after his crucifixion Jesus could appear to his disciples and present to Thomas, who doubted his reappearance, the proof that he had lost none of his essential being?" As all could see, he was himself, the very self whom they had known.

LAWFUL WONDERS

Often when wonders are heard of or seen we show surprise, for wonders are supposed to be something unusual or strange. To speak of wonders as lawful takes them out of the strange and unusual class and makes them conformable to accepted standards, duly authorized or established by law.

DOMINION THROUGH SUBMISSION

Freedom is inherent in man. Because he has dominion, he is free.

DEMONSTRATING ONE'S TRUE CHARACTER

The words of the Bible ( Isa. 43:10 ), "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord," indicate a high and holy task which we can perform only if our character has been purified from the dross of human imperfection and refined in the fire of truth.

OUR WATCH AGAINST THE THIEF

In many places where a highway crosses a railway track we see the sign, "Stop, Look, Listen. " The purpose of this sign is to make the driver alert and observant, to be watchful for his own protection and safety, as well as to be mindful of the welfare of others.
