Students of Christian Science are grateful for the fact that their Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has restored in this age through Christian Science the practical vitality of Christ Jesus' teaching. By proof after proof they have demonstrated this beyond a shadow of doubt. They find that the facts of Truth, tested by experience, stand irrefutably, meeting successfully the challenge of materialistic systems. By accepting and applying Christian Science the humblest beginner can effectively demonstrate the spiritual power thus unfolded.
Gradually another fact becomes unmistakably clear. Not only has our beloved Leader restored to us the true method of early Christian teaching and healing; she has established a sound basis whereby we may view aright the facts in later Christian history. Mrs. Eddy's statements, God-inspired, together with the Bible passages which she so effectively elucidates, are ample to afford all that is needed for the interpretation of Christian history. The more fully a student of Christian Science learns the authentic details of Christian history, the more he appreciates the light which our Leader has shed on this subject.
The spiritual sense which enabled Mrs. Eddy to separate between the material history and the spiritual fact in dealing with the Scriptures is conspicuous also in her treatment of later events and trends in Christian history. Her method is a helpful guide to us today. She has given us in her published writings what is necessary, basically, for an adequate understanding of essential, vital facts in Christian history, enabling us to separate the tares from the wheat.
