One of the first discoveries made by the sincere seeker of the truth in his study of Christian Science is the scientific exactness of Mary Baker Eddy's use of words. Her clear way of saying things is characteristic of her works.

There is no humanly permanent status quo. In the Bible we are told that angels of the Lord appeared to the prophets of old, who, by giving heed to these messengers of Truth and Love, were safeguarded and led aright as they wended their way Spiritward. These heavenly visitants are not confined to Bible times, but are present now.

To ascertain what comprises man we begin with Deity, his source. Christian Science reveals God as self-existent Mind and Life, the one infinite, all-inclusive Being.

From time to time the attitude of Christian Scientists towards Protestantism continues to be challenged. The following illustrates this point.

What , in the light of Christian Science, is the reasonable view of atomic power and its practical meaning now and in the future for oneself and mankind? Is it to have its way with men, or are they to have their way with it? Can they protect themselves from it? Can they make it serve them constructively? And if mankind as a whole or groups of mankind can do these things, how far can the individual go in the same way? Can he, regardless of what others are doing, remain unharmed by this vast new appearance of force, and have it as his servant? The answers of Christian Science to these questions are of the most definite and satisfying character. They are not unlike its continually demonstrated answers concerning disease.

Mary Baker Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings" ( p. 196 ): "The sweet, sacred sense and permanence of man's unity with his Maker, in Science, illumines our present existence with the ever-presence and power of God, good.

In Hebrews we read ( 9:28 ), "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. " Here we are told that the second coming of the Christ, Truth, would be "without sin" or, as understood in Christian Science, without physical embodiment, and that it would appear only "unto them that look for him," revealing the necessity of spiritual discernment and observation.

" O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace 'be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. " A beautiful assurance of God's love for man is contained in these words from Daniel (10:19).
