The Church of Christ, Scientist, is established to support and to disseminate the Science of Christ, which teaches the substance and permanence of all that is truly Godlike and the consequent nothingness of that which is contrary to the deific nature and purpose. Christian Science starts from the standpoint of absolute spiritual perfection. God, the creator of man and the universe, is eternally expressing perfection.
An entirely new concept of rest is found in the teaching of Christian Science. It is because of this new light on the question of what constitutes real rest that Christian Scientists often arrange their vacations with a special interest in making them an opportunity for spiritual refreshment, rather than a mere matter of miles of travel or rushing around seeking personal pleasure.
" The true consciousness is the true health," declares Mary Baker Eddy on page 298 of "Miscellaneous Writings. " This statement reverses the customary concept of health as a condition of the material body and reveals that the attainment of perfect health is a present possibility.
While economy is often thought of in the narrow sense which suggests parsimony, in its true, scientific meaning it includes no hint of lack. Rather does it imply wise stewardship.
