To be spiritually independent is to be self-governed, to do one's thinking, under God's direction, unswayed by mortal opinions and beliefs. Indicative of the alliance existing between the quality of stillness and the divine nature are Mary Baker Eddy's words in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p. 559 ): "The 'still, small voice' of scientific thought reaches over continent and ocean to the globe's remotest bound.
" Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me" ( Isa. 45: 11 ).
