Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

IS MAN EVOLVED BY ATOMIC FORCE?

In this age of atomic research, in which mankind are being taught to take a radically new view of matter and are alarmed by what they are learning, there is no more arresting question than one posed by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. In fact, she evidently attributed such importance to the question that she included it in one of the subjects of the periodically recurring Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, as if she had envisaged that the world would be called upon to face and ponder this subject in the not too distant future.

THE JOY OF REALIZATION

A Student of Christian Science who was soberly studying the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy was one day given the loving reminder by his teacher not only to do his metaphysical work regularly and earnestly, but to "have a good time doing it. " This unusual advice awakened him at once to the realization of how necessary is the right attitude in the study of Christian Science.

PROVING OUR DOMINION

The principle of mathematics, when correctly applied, will always ensure the right solution of every mathematical problem. Just as surely in the Science of metaphysics, when we correctly apply the truths revealed to the world by the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, the right answer to every problem will be found always at hand.

A PATH THROUGH THE SEA

At a time when an approaching; tropical hurricane threatened to do great damage to a community, a Christian Scientist's thoughts turned to the Biblical account of Moses and the children of Israel, who, fleeing from the Egyptians, found themselves with the Red Sea before them. Moses prayed, but the answer to his prayer was not immediately understandable, for we are told that a strong east wind blew all that night (Ex.

"WORDS EASY TO BE UNDERSTOOD"

The true nature of the universe, including man, is set forth by Mary Baker Eddy in her principal work, "Science and Health with Key to the' Scriptures," in what she has termed "the scientific statement of being. " It reads as follows ( p.

"THE POWER OF THE WORD"

From the summit of undeviating devotion to the Word, from the vantage point of ever-mounting proofs of its potency, Mary Baker Eddy asks the world this rousing question (Poems, p. 75 ): "Felt ye the power of the Word?" Years before, when the shadow of death threatened, her lifelong love of the Bible turned her instinctively to God's Word.

THE CHURCH MEMBER'S OPPORTUNITY

Membership in a Church of Christ, Scientist, affords the individual an opportunity to benefit all mankind. This may seem a sweeping statement if one does not know that one of the requirements for church membership is the acknowledgment of God as supreme and infinite and of man as made in His image and likeness.

"THE PREPARATIONS OF THE HEART"

The author of Proverbs opens the sixteenth chapter with the familiar verse, "The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. " Turning to Young's Bible Concordance we find that the word translated "preparations" meant originally "arrangement, disposing"; while the word here given as "heart" is translated "mind" in eleven other places and "understanding" in twenty.

MAN'S TRUE IDENTITY AND INDIVIDUALITY

Man without identity would be indefinite—indistinct and indistinguishable. Without individuality man's existence would be monotonous, lacking the freshness and spontaneity that characterize the activity of Spirit.

THE COMFORT OF THE MOTHER CHURCH

In the Scriptures we read ( Isa. 66:13 ), "As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
