Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

TRUE PROTECTION

In China, before the infiltration of Western culture and habits, it was customary to engage doctors for a given period of time in an effort to secure protection from sickness and death. In "History of Chinese Medicine" by Wong and Wu, it is related that it was not uncommon for the wealthier Chinese families to hire six or even more medical practitioners on this periodic basis.

RADIANT WOMANHOOD

In times of moral and economic crises, nations look to their womenfolk as the upholders of standards. Men going down into mines, fighting on battlefields, or catching the morning bus for the office often carry with them a mental picture of a loved woman who represents to them the qualities for which they are striving.

LOVE, NOT CONDEMNATION, HEALS

Each one by earnest study may gain something from the healing works of Christ Jesus, as recorded in the Bible, to meet his special needs. Being all-embracing in scope, the healing works cannot be narrowly interpreted, but should be seen as the effect of the application of an understanding of infinite divine Love to meet the needs of mankind.

A CONTINUING CHRISTMAS

As each year the Christmas season passes, many may exclaim, Oh, if we could only have the spirit of Christmas on every day of the year! Through God's great gift to this age of the Christ Science, or Christian Science, mankind is receiving the good tidings of a continuous, eternal Christmas. While we gratefully commemorate at Christmas time the birth of Jesus our Way-shower and his life of practical demonstration of the Christ, obedience to his command that we do the works which he did is the only meaningful celebration of his unique career.

"ARISE, ANOINT HIM"

Elections in Christian Science churches afford glorious opportunities to demonstrate that God's government reigns on earth. Christian Scientists can more fully utilize these opportunities through a better understanding of the true concept of Church and of heaven and the relationship of one to the other.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE ENNOBLES HUMANHOOD

Christian Science gives human consciousness a new basis. By making clear the absolute spirituality of man as the idea of God and the consequent unreality of material selfhood, it enables one to abandon mortal premises and to take the position confidently proclaimed by Paul ( Gal.

ADORATION

Christian Science teaches "that God is to be understood, adored, and demonstrated"( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 472 ).

"COULD YE NOT WATCH WITH ME ONE HOUR?"

A YOUNG Christian Scientist was on her way to a Wednesday evening meeting in the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, of which she was a member. Contrary to her usual happy state of thought, this particular evening she was oppressed by a heavy mental load.

JOY ON PATMOS

DURING the reign of the Roman emperor Domitian the persecution of the early followers of Jesus' teaching was very bitter. John, who understood these teachings perhaps better than any other of the twelve, was a source of great concern to those who feared the Christian religion and desired to stop its progress.
