THE problem of lack touches the experience of many; but because it is a problem, it is solvable. The Scriptures teach that God, the loving Father, provides all good for His children.
A DIFFICULTY which presents itself to many people in approaching the study of Christian Science is disbelief in the Bible. The inevitable reaction from the theory of "verbal inspiration," so called, arising from the freedom of research which characterizes this period, has resulted in a tendency to think of the Bible as a collection of interesting folklore, Oriental drama, and poetry, admirable as literature, but of no practical import to the present generation.
THE true idea of Church is identified with no mere set of human conditions, historic or otherwise, which a later period might render obsolete or archaic. The Church of Christ, Scientist, in its purely spiritual aspects, is subject to no limitations or considerations of time, of environment, or of changing fortunes of men.
HUMANITY greatly needs a more vivid sense of God's nearness and of His tender, watchful care. Christian Scientists are learning how to come near to God.
LATE in July, 1908, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in a communication to The Christian Science Board of Directors, expressed the desire that a daily newspaper be forthwith established in Boston, Massachusetts, under the auspices of the Christian Science movement. Although such an announcement had been hoped for, and had been considered a future possibility, it came unexpectedly and with surprise, even to some of those close to our Leader.
ONE who had been brought up in slavery and had always thought of himself as slave-born, on being told that it was all a mistake, that he had been stolen from free parents and had really always been a free man, would be overjoyed at the tidings. His thought would leap forward to the privileges of freedom.
GOD is expressed through spiritual ideas, since He is Spirit or Mind. The recognition of God's ideas must, therefore, come through thinking which is spiritual; and thus, through purified thinking we know God, good.
ON page 100 of "Miscellaneous Writings" Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "Pure humanity, friendship, home, the interchange of love, bring to earth a foretaste of heaven.
