Richard Mather is a Christian Science healer and teacher who lives in the state of Washington, in the United States. He was a chaplain during the Vietnam War.

On September 11, the members of the executive board of our downtown Manhattan church got in touch with each other within a short time of the attacks on the World Trade Center. We decided to open the church that evening as a refuge for our community to pray, read psalms, and sing hymns.

My parents have told me about my first healing through Christian Science, which occurred when I was a two-year-old hospitalized with a life-threatening illness. Of course I was too young to remember the details, but Christian Science apparently saved my life.

About forgiving

In my freshman year of high school, my parents separated and then divorced. One of the casualties of this caustic divorce was my relationship with my father.
