Even if the eyes are not closing and the head is not nodding, we may be asleep in church. During my college days I had a difficult time staying awake in church; my eyes would glaze over, and my thought would drift.

Overcoming resistance to Christian Science

Because modern society is so often centered on materialism, it tends to rebel against the spiritual standards of Christian Science. So it's not unusual for active Christian Scientists to encounter resistance to the healing truth they are undertaking to live.
