Drugs in the suburbs

Is there a hidden drug problem among youth in our community? the Christian Scientists in Framingham, Massachusetts, asked. They wanted to be fully informed and spiritually armed.

Church is to share

Church is to share, not to hoard. Feeling an urgent need for a more dynamic community outreach, members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Reno, Nevada, swung into action.

A marine, one of about 525 Christian Scientists serving in Vietnam, prayed on the eve of battle that tomorrow was God's day, filled with good only. "If I was sent over here at God's directing," he reasoned, "then I wasn't sent here to kill or to be killed, to destroy and hurt, but I was sent to bless.

A loving eye

Small in membership but large in its outgoing love for mankind, members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Fall River Mills, California, first keep a loving eye on the community, providing sixteen literature distribution boxes in the area with fresh literature at least once a week—sometimes more often. One box is in a hospital.

A Christian Scientist was enjoying a friendly dinner meeting of persons concerned with the rehabilitation of inmates at a large state prison in Monterey County, California. Before too long, he began to realize—with unfeigned surprise—that he was the honored guest.

Preparing to Teach Sunday School

Many of us have probably reasoned this way on the subject of teaching: "Why should I teach in the Sunday School? I love the children and pray for their protection and growth. But since there are others who are better qualified than I am, I think I shall decline the invitation to teach at this time and wait until I am better prepared.

Parts of southern California had been declared a disaster area by the Governor in January. With floods devastating the region around a small community in Ventura County, it had been announced over the radio that all church services were canceled.

While student rebellion and power struggles have usurped the university headlines during the 1960's, something of quieter importance has been taking place: great growth of Christian Science college organizations in general, and their appearance on the South American continent in particular. The first organization in this area to be listed in The Christian Science Journal was at University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1960.
