Spiritual progress in South America

From the May 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

While student rebellion and power struggles have usurped the university headlines during the 1960's, something of quieter importance has been taking place: great growth of Christian Science college organizations in general, and their appearance on the South American continent in particular.

The first organization in this area to be listed in The Christian Science Journal was at University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1960. In 1964, an organization at the Universities in Montevideo, Uruguay, was officially recognized. Last summer an organization was formed at University of Chile in Santiago.

Informal groups have sprung up at universities and colleges in Rosario and at National University of the Litoral in Santa Fe, Argentina. In Brazil there are groups at University of Rio Grande do Sul, Pôrto Alegre, University of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, and University of São Paulo, São Paulo. There is a group at National University of San Marcos, Lima, Peru, and activity is just beginning at the University of Venezuela, Caracas.
