"An offering pure of Love"

From the May 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Every Christian Science practitioner knows that in his healing ministry he must assert and utilize the law of Love in humbleness of spirit. Thus his prayer is effective, restorative, "an offering pure of Love." With true humility Mrs. Eddy, a practitioner of immense ability and glorious demonstrations, writes in one of her poems:

My prayer, some daily good to do
To Thine, for Thee;
An offering pure of Love, whereto
God leadeth me.Poems, p. 13;

In my work as an Assistant Committee on Publication, I have frequently been asked by church groups and ministers, "What does a Christian Science practitioner do, and how does he pray?" To communicate to them in a more meaningful way concerning spiritual healing, to show forth the practitioner's role in presenting "an offering pure of Love," and to deepen my own spiritual awareness of the healing ministry, I studied again the four Gospels in many translations, noting particularly the spiritual, Godlike qualities expressed by both Christ Jesus and his patients.
