Church is to share, not to hoard.
Feeling an urgent need for a more dynamic community outreach, members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Reno, Nevada, swung into action. They carefully—and joyfully—planned a Sharing Church venture, similar to the one carried out in 1968 in Boston's Back Bay by The Mother Church.
To qualify for the door-to-door contact with the neighboring community, volunteers met for inspirational meetings focused on spiritual love, humanity, family and brotherhood, true selfhood, and the nothingness of evil. In spontaneous skits they briefed each other on how they might express spiritual discernment, readiness, flexibility, and genuine love in their encounters with the public.
