Active Participation

From the July 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Membership in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and in The Mother Church is an integral part of a Christian Scientist's life. It is more than just being a joiner! It is gratitude actively expressed, gratitude for God's goodness, gratitude for His healing power. It is gratitude for a new way of life unfolding to each of us as we actively participate as a church member.

The deep love Christian Scientists have for church stems from the great influence for good Christian Science has on their lives. They treasure this precious religion, for through its tender healing ministry they have learned to love and understand God.

The writer well remembers the warm feeling that encircled her as she read the letter from The Mother Church welcoming her into membership. It was as though a mother's comforting arm had been placed about her shoulders, enfolding and encompassing her. She had never felt so loved! Over the years the privileges that this membership includes have been a tower of strength to lean upon, a beacon through the night watches. The feeling of being cherished has continued to unfold to her.
