MANKIND in general know little about the silent mental influences under which they live and act. But Christian Science is alerting its adherents to detect such influences, to accept only good as true, and to reject whatever does not come from God.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE teaches that man in God's image and likeness is deathless, eternal, and indestructible. It therefore denies the generally accepted belief that eternal life can be achieved only as the result of an experience called death.

When Christ Jesus was born, shepherds heard the heavenly host heralding his birth. These humble men were receptive to the divine presence, which readily finds the heart prepared to accept Christ, Truth.

When the plaintiff in a court of law has presented evidence which he believes will support his contention, he announces to the judge, in substance, "I rest my case. " After the opposing party has presented his testimony, the plaintiff may normally submit further evidence to offset the defense.

How shall we measure true value, true worth? The world is inclined to emphasize material things, including money, as an indication of wealth. Yet in the book of Proverbs we read ( 22: 1 ), "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

As the season of harvest draws to a close, thought turns naturally to God in thanksgiving for His wondrous works. The giving of thanks, however, should not be considered a seasonal event.

One generally uses his income either for expenses or for investments. The former he marks off as consumed—expended.

The world today yearns for the end of strife and material armaments. Thousands are praying earnestly for the fulfillment of the time pictured by the prophet Micah when it shall come to pass that "they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more" ( 4:3 ).

It is evident to the world that many boundaries of the human mind are breaking down. The limits imposed by matter are disappearing before the application of intelligence to the uses of the so-called forces which constitute matter.

" The Lord was not in the fire. " This  assurance came to Elijah ( I Kings 19:12 ) as he stood upon the mount before the Lord.
