Testimonies of Healing

A number of years ago, I served a term as Second Reader in my branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Each Sunday I read to the congregation the scriptural portion of that week’s Bible Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly.

Attendance in the Christian Science Sunday School taught me that having even the tiniest seed of understanding of God as Spirit, and of man as His spiritual image and likeness, has the power to heal and does heal. During those years I experienced quick healings of chickenpox and menstrual cramps.

Years ago my weekly schedule included several part-time jobs, and each of them involved physically demanding tasks. Near the end of one workday, I accidentally knocked over a bucket of soapy water, and while cleaning up the spill, I slipped and fell onto the wet tile floor.

Years ago, I felt mentally abused by my boss. Everything I did on the job was questioned, including my motives and methods.

Christian Science was the only religion taught and practiced in my family with five siblings. We lived in the Territory of Hawaii, on the island of Hawaii, and had an active Christian Science Society.

Several years ago I began experiencing severe chest pains on occasion during the night. I was fearful I might pass on, so each time this happened I rose from bed and paced the floor, praying.
