I am writing to express my gratitude for a Christian Science healing of kidney stones. There had been a number of cases of this ailment in our family. My mother and father and my two younger sisters talked about the symptoms, medical treatments, and lengthy duration of this condition.
On a Friday afternoon I began experiencing symptoms—including distressing pain—that were fully in line with those reported by my family members, and unlike anything I had ever experienced. I immediately turned to the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, as I felt this situation required direct and specific metaphysical treatment. As a support to my prayer, I wrote down citations that helped to calm my thought.
For example, in Science and Health in the chapter “Christian Science Practice” I found this reference from the allegorical trial of a man “charged with having committed liver-complaint” (p. 430): “We have no trials for sickness before the tribunal of divine Spirit. There, Man is adjudged innocent of transgressing physical laws, because there are no such laws” (pp. 441–442). From this I accepted the fact that I was innocent, and that I couldn’t be in thrall to disease of any type.
