Testimonies of Healing

In the Bible God repeatedly tells us that He will deliver us (see Isaiah 46:4 , for example). The Scriptures are reminding us that God is the creator and the great deliverer.

Several years ago, I became aware of a growth on my forehead. I recalled that my mother had had a similar growth in the same place.

I used to wonder what I would feel comfortable doing if something catastrophic happened—where would I turn for help and resolution? I was not raised as a Christian Scientist, and I had been well acquainted with other modalities for treatment at times of crisis. Many years ago, I got an answer to my question.

I’m so grateful for a healing I had of an internal disorder. Something seemed out of place and uncomfortable in my pelvic area.

During a routine physical activity while on duty in the Brazilian Army, I injured myself and felt a pain so intense in my right leg that I could barely stand. I immediately began to affirm the ever-present, divine perfection of God, which I express as His child and which cannot be altered.

On December 24, 1990, I went in for a routine prenatal exam at a clinic attached to our local maternity hospital. Given the volume of births in that part of the world at the time, pregnant women were put on a “team” for prenatal care and were run in and out of these checkups at warp speed.

Years ago I worked as a nanny for a family with a small dog. One Monday afternoon, when I was lifting the dog off a bed, she bit me hard across the bridge of my nose.

I want to express my deep gratitude for having found Christian Science. It has been a source of inspiration and strength, and it has changed the way I see and live my daily life.

Several years ago, after I’d returned home from my annual Christian Science students’ association meeting, I became very ill with flu symptoms. I wondered how this could happen, especially after a meeting that was filled with powerful and inspiring messages about God’s goodness.

One morning in spring 2022, during my time serving as First Reader of my branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I woke up to find it difficult to walk. I was unable to move one leg at all without intense pain.
