Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

The appearance of nature is nearly always, not false, but illusive, and our first interpretations of natural phenomena usually are the reverse of the reality. This is the wisdom of creation—the secret of the world; else knowledge would be immediate, and man a mere eye for seeing.

WHAT WE READ

It has been said, that one may get an accurate idea of an individual's character by the books he reads. For the perfect understanding of truth, I would rather have one thought, clear and transparent as crystal, than volumes wherein the truth appears occasionally as a borrowed light, to be obscured or denied for the greater part of the way.

Truth is manifest in unity of statement, quality and proof; error is found in multiplicity of statements, lack of basis, no lack of duplicity. Truth is born of Light; error is the story of a serpent.

"THOU HAST BEEN FAITHFUL OVER A FEW THINGS."

If people would confine their talk to subjects only that are profitable, that which St. John informs us took place once in heaven would happen very frequently on earth, silence for the space of half an hour.

THE MINISTRY OF PRAYER

" That prayer which does not succeed in moderating one wish, in changing the passionate desire into still submission, the anxious, tumultuous expectation into silent surrender, is no true prayer, and proves that we have not the spirit of true prayer. FLATTERY

The old fable of the spider and the fly has not yet been forgotten. We think our readers are informed of the character of those who stoop to flatter.

PROGRESS

We are glad to hear that a noted clergyman has spoken for God as revealed through Christian Science from his pulpit. That is the source from which all encouragement and inspiration should come, and it will come.

DEFINITION OF PURPOSE

What specimen of science is a wolf in sheep's clothing, beyond an ass whose ears stick out? What tender hearted mind-curer has discovered an improvement on Christian Science, metaphysical healing, by which error destroys error, and would gather all sorts into "a national convention" with the sophistry that such is the true fold for Christian healers, and the Good Shepherd cares for all. Yes, He does care for all, and His first care is to separate the sheep and goats, and this is the first lesson of healing taught by our blessed Master.
