I love the healing atmosphere of services and meetings in branch Churches of Christ, Scientist. It gives me some time to spend quietly with God during the week, away from the bustle and distractions of everyday life.
Being an accountant by profession, and thus much more comfortable with number-crunching than letter-writing, I have found it easy to find excuses to avoid writing for the Christian Science periodicals. However, it became difficult to ignore the insistent thoughts that I should at least give writing for these magazines a try.
A healing gave me a new and unexpected understanding of Christ Jesus’ parable of the talents, of its deep relevance and great importance to our lives, including our spiritual growth and progress. Recently I was asked to serve as an interpreter for a roundtable discussion that was to be held in French. I was to interpret into English in real time, because all the partners responsible for the meeting were English speakers and wanted to follow along.
