Christ Jesus had ordained his twelve disciples—his apostles. Matthew and Luke record what appears to be an address, directed primarily to the Twelve, but heard also by the multitudes, and known as the Sermon on the Mount.

Is life simply organized matter? Is church merely organized religion? Can inspiration really be institutionalized? Do fixed rules make sense in a world convulsed by change? Such questions as these are hardly to be avoided in the late twentieth century. Top-heavy with material organization, society makes labored efforts to adjust to the onrushing future, while individuals struggle to rescue from corporate pressures some measure of spontaneity, privacy, and freedom to be themselves.

Many have heard of the little church that depended on its congregation for light. It had no electric system or oil lamps, but when Sunday evenings were long and dark, the church was always bright.

As a Christian Science nurse actively involved in various communities, I am grateful for the By-Law in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy making provision for this service.

Prediction plays an important part in the fabric of our existence. "There's bound to be delay," someone says, or, "He's sure to succeed," or, "This happiness won't last.

Are you a Christian Scientist but not a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist? Why? Do you think it would be a stale experience, that you couldn't do much? Maybe you think it won't do any good, or that you're too young. Church can't be a stale experience unless you let it be.

Nobody knows how many of us Sunday School teachers have at one time or another entertained these arguments: Someone else would do a better job with my Sunday School class than I can. I'm not reaching the children, so I'd better quit and let someone who has more time to prepare for it take the class.

Is the purpose of the Christian Science Center a righteous one? We can answer with a ready, strong affirmative. The constant aim of the activities of The Mother Church—most visible now in this strengthening expansion—is to satisfy more fully the world's need for genuine good, for the spiritual ideas that supply every need.
