On page 583 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy defines the ideal spiritual Church, and immediately thereafter states the nature of the church which as an institution is through its membership demonstrating the ideal Church.
For some time past the ever increasing development of our movement has added to the duties and responsibilities of our Board to such an extent that the heavy demands upon our time and attention have reached the point where an adjustment of existing conditions is imperative, in order that we may attend more assiduously and capably to the affairs of the Church imposed by the Manual upon the office we hold. Spiritual healing is seen in the spontaneity and power of Christ Jesus' ministry among men. His healing works demonstrated the loftiness of his teachings, and Christian Science explains the basis of both with irrefutable clarity.
